Overview
Data Visualizations lets you decide how your top-level roll-ups and metrics are displayed, based on what you want to track. Instead of a fixed set of charts, you choose the metric, how results are grouped, and how the chart looks.
You can find Data Visualizations as a tab at the top of the Products page, next to Favorites, Overview, and Impact Analysis.
Note: Data Visualizations replaces the pre-built Scope 3 Category 1 and Scope 3 Category 4 charts. If you used those charts, you'll need to rebuild them here. See Recreate the Scope 3.1 and 3.4 charts below.
With Data Visualizations, you can:
Chart a metric as a donut or bar chart
Group results by vendor or by tag
Narrow a chart to a subset of vendors or tags to drill down further
Show all results or only your top results, sorted highest or lowest first
Favorite charts to build a landing dashboard of numbers and graphs on the Favorites tab
How it works
Before you start: set your page filters
Every chart is built from the results on the page. The filters at the top of the page (for example Status, Workspaces or Vendors) decide which products feed into the chart and the table below it. If you change the page filters, your charts update to match.
The chart builder shows which page filters are active under Page Filters. These are view-only in the builder; click Edit in Filters to jump to the filters at the top of the page and change them.
Build a chart
Go to Products and open the Data Visualizations tab.
Click Add Custom Chart. The New chart panel opens on the right, and a live preview appears on the dashboard as you make changes.
Under Metric, choose the metric you want to chart.
Under Group by, choose Vendor or Tags.
Optionally, narrow the groups: select Starting with... and type the beginning of a vendor or tag name. Only groups that start with that text are included. Select All to include every group.
Under Show, choose how many groups to display (for example All or Top 5). Under Sort, choose Highest first or Lowest first.
Choose Donut or Bar. The builder will suggest a chart type when you have a lot of groups (for example, Bar recommended — 55 groups crowd a donut).
Optionally, enter a Chart title. Leave it empty to keep the generated title up to date as you change the settings.
Click Add to dashboard.
Add a chart to Favorites
Favorite a chart to show it on the Favorites tab alongside your favorited metrics. This lets you build a landing dashboard with the numbers and graphs you check most often.
Recreate the Scope 3.1 and 3.4 charts
To rebuild the charts that were previously pre-built, add a chart with Metric set to the Scope 3 category you want (for example Scope 3 Category 1 Impact) and Group by set to Vendor. Use Show and Sort to match the view your team is used to.
Tips & things to keep in mind
Tip: Name your tags so they're easy to chart
If you plan to group charts by tag, give related tags a shared prefix, such as Product Category: Snacks and Product Category: Beverages. Then, in the chart builder, group by Tags, select Starting with... and type Product Category. The chart will show one group per product category and leave out unrelated tags.
Grouping by tags can double count.
When you group a chart by tags, you'll see this message on the chart:
Until adequately filtered, tags can overlap, so this total may be higher than your actual emissions.
Hover over the message for more detail:
This chart summarizes emissions by tags applied based on your uploaded data. It shows which tags carry the most emissions.
A product can have more than one tag, and its emissions are counted in full under each tag applied. If your products are tagged by category, subcategory, and type, displaying all three counts each product three times, so the total ends up higher than a discrete summary of your portfolio emissions.
To ensure accurate totals, use “Tags starting with” to show only one group of tags at a time, like subcategories. Page filters like location don’t prevent double counting on their own. If your uploaded data included different periods as tags that you wouldn’t normally sum for analysis, use filters to limit the period(s) displayed.
For your reportable total, use the vendor chart, where each product is counted once.
Charts follow your page filters.
The chart builder can narrow results further, but it always starts from the products that match the page filters. Before you share or export a number from a chart, check which filters are active.
Chart types and metrics are limited for now.
You can currently build donut and bar charts, using the metrics listed in the Metric dropdown. We're adding more metrics and chart styles over time. If there's a metric or chart type you'd like to see, let your Customer Success Manager know.
Showing all groups adds a scroll.
If you choose All under Show and you have many vendors or tags, the chart scrolls. For a cleaner chart, show your top results instead (for example Top 5).
Data Visualizations doesn't show change over time. Charts reflect the current results on the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the Scope 3.1 and 3.4 charts go?
They've been replaced by Data Visualizations, so you can choose exactly how those numbers are shown. You can rebuild them in a few clicks; see Recreate the Scope 3.1 and 3.4 charts above.
Why doesn't my chart total match the total on the page?
The most common reason is grouping by tags: a product with several matching tags is counted once per tag. Narrow the chart with Starting with... so each product falls into one group. Also check that the chart isn't limited to your top results under Show.
Why did my chart change?
Charts update whenever the page filters change. Check the Page Filters section of the chart builder, or the filters at the top of the page.
Can I compare results across years?
Charts don't track change over time. As a workaround, you can tag products with the year they apply to (for example Year: 2025) and group or filter by that tag.
Can I chart a metric that isn't in the Metric list?
Not yet. Tell your Customer Success Manager which metrics and chart types would be most useful to you; customer requests guide what we add next.
