SupplierConnect Glossary: Key Terms and Definitions

All of the key terms, metrics, and statuses you will encounter while managing your customer requests and product data.

Welcome to the SupplierConnect glossary. This page defines the key terms, metrics, and statuses you will encounter while managing your customer requests and product data.

Customer Requests

A dedicated view housing all requests from your customers. Clicking a customer's name opens their specific dashboard.

My Materials

A repository of all your saved sub-components used to build finished products. Materials and Products share the same layout, allowing you to nest Materials within Products.

Company Profile

This section includes your:

General Profile where you can showcase your climate commitments and GHG emissions reporting progress.

Reduction Strategies (if your customer is requesting it) where you can select climate strategies being implemented or planned through 2030.

This data is shared directly with customers upon clicking "Share."

Carbon Accounting

The Carbon Accounting page allows you to manage your full corporate accounting alongside your product carbon footprinting and carbon reduction efforts in Latis.

Company Impact

The Company Impact page provides an overview of your company’s overall impact.

Initiatives

The Initiatives page allows you to create company-level sustainability initiatives and track them over time.

Products

The Products page is where you assess the impact of all of the products that you produce or sell.

Vendors

The Vendors page provides visibility into your supply chain, to help you understand the impact of all of your current vendors, and provides insights to help you prioritize which vendors to engage

Ingredient Library

The Ingredient Library is a powerful tool for exploring HowGood’s global database of raw materials and ingredients, and incorporating more sustainable ingredients into your product formulations.

Footprint & Tracking Statuses


Product Status

Product Status shows a summary of all products:

  • Complete: The product has been shared and is visible on the customer’s dashboard. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • Submitted: The product is in the queue to be surfaced to the customer. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • In Progress: Data has been added and saved, but the supplier has not yet clicked "Share Footprint." Action is required.

  • Not Started: No data has been added to the product entry. Action is required.

Footprint Status

Footprint Status shows a summary of each product:

  • Sharing Complete: The product has been shared and is visible on the customer’s dashboard. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • Submitted for Sharing: The product is in the queue to be surfaced to the customer. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • In Progress: Data has been added and saved, but the supplier has not yet clicked "Share Footprint." Action is required.

  • Not Started: No data has been added to the product entry. Action is required.

Portfolio Performance

The Portfolio Performance tile shows: of the products you have shared to your customer, which product has the highest carbon footprint and which product has the lowest.

Technical & Emission Metrics


The following metrics are located on the Customer Dashboard page, in the table listing all Products:

Product

The name of your product being requested by your customer. If you don't have a list of products, reach out to our team using the in-app chat.

UPC/GTIN

Unique product identifiers. While visible, these are often pre-populated and do not require supplier input.

Tags

Any identifiers used by your customer.

Carbon Lifecycle Cradle-to-manfacturing-gate (kg CO2e/kg)

Carbon lifecycle of the product, specifically Cradle-to-manufacturing-gate (kg CO2e/kg). This value automatically populates once a product or material is saved.

Footprint Status

The status of each of individual product:

  • Sharing Complete: The product has been shared and is visible on the customer’s dashboard. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • Submitted for Sharing: The product is in the queue to be surfaced to the customer. No further action is needed from the supplier.

  • In Progress: Data has been added and saved, but the supplier has not yet clicked "Share Footprint." Action is required.

  • Not Started: No data has been added to the product entry. Action is required.

Certifications

An option to upload proof of industry standards (e.g., RSPO, Certified Organic, Fair Trade) for your product.

The following metrics are located on the Product page, in the Ingredients section:

Ingredient

Name of one of the ingredients in your formulation.

Sourcing Location

The geographical origin where raw ingredients are grown or harvested (e.g., a specific ranch or farm).

Standards

Any standards applied to this ingredient (e.g., Certified Organic, Fair for Life, Rainforest Alliance).

Processing Location

The facility where raw ingredients are transformed into a final ingredient (e.g., a dairy pasteurization plant).

Weight (Inclusion %)

The specific weight or percentage of an ingredient's inclusion relative to the total product composition.

The following metrics are located on the Product page, in the Packaging and Distribution section, under General:

Manufacturing Type

A general description of how the recipe is manufactured, similar to sales category. This field is required for cradle-to-gate carbon metrics.

Manufacturing Region

Where your recipe is manufactured (state or country). This field is required for cradle-to-gate carbon metrics.

Requires Cooking

If the end consumer needs to cook it.

Requires Cold Storage

If the product needs cold storage as it leaves the supplier manufacturing/facility.

Standards

Any third party standards or certifications associated to the ingredient or sub-ingredient.

Unit Size (kg)

Size of the unit, in kg.

UPC

The product's UPC.

The following metrics are located on the Product page, in the Packaging and Distribution section, under Packaging:

Type

The hierarchy of the packaging. Options include:

  • Consumer Unit (individual item)

  • Selling Unit (multi-pack)

  • Tray/Crate (secondary packaging)

  • Pallet/Transportation Unit (tertiary packaging)

If you would like to add Packaging, this field is required in order to save.

Consumer Units

The number of individual products contained within the selected packaging type.

Material

The primary substance of the packaging (e.g., Cardboard, Glass, Steel, HDPE Plastic). If you would like to add Packaging, this field is required in order to save.

Region

The region where this packaging is produced.

Material Weight (kg/unit of packaging)

The weight (in kg) of the packaging material used per unit.

Uses

Indicates if the packaging is single-use or intended for multiple cycles/reuse.

Data Management & Inputs


Bulk Upload

An efficiency tool allowing suppliers to download an Excel template, fill in product data offline, and upload multiple records at once.

Submit Emissions Data

A feature used to upload and submit third-party verified emissions documentation for one or more products.

Download Product List

An option for a user to download an excel file of the requested product list.

Search and filter

A way for users to filter Products and Materials by a specific value. By default this function is toggled on.
